There can be times in our lives when we feel we need someone impartial to talk to. There may be many reasons such as:
- Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed.
- Feeling sad or depressed.
- Feeling work or family related stress.
- Lacking in confidence or having low self-esteem.
- Unable to talk to family or friends.
- Relationship problems.
- Coming to terms with loss or a bereavement.
- Unable to see your way out of a dilemma or feeling stuck.
- Struggling with an ongoing issue and unable to find clarity
- Coping with life changes
Therapeutic counselling is a talking therapy. I believe that through the therapeutic relationship, sharing thoughts and feelings can help you to see your problems or issues from a different perspective and together we can look at ways to overcome them. You may also become more aware of obstacles that prevent you from reaching your goals and aspirations.
In our sessions we will be exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, this can help you to develop more self-awareness and give you the opportunity to reflect on what you may wish to change. We can then look at ways for you to create those changes. We will always work at a pace that is right for you. Sometimes it may be appropriate to explore past unresolved issues that may be affecting you in the present. Working through past negative experiences can help you to let go and move forward in your life. Our counselling sessions will take place in a calm, safe and confidential space where I will listen to you without judgement and you can have the opportunity to take time out and focus on yourself. I work in an integrative way applying person-centred/humanistic and psychodynamic theory which I adapt to benefit each client individually. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethics and guidelines to ensure I meet their professional
standards. I am currently a volunteer counsellor with MIND, a leading mental health charity.
I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling awarded by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body. I can offer short or long term therapeutic counselling. I am a registered member of the BACP.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and are usually the same time and day each week. I can offer you a no obligation free phone consultation for up to 30 minutes. I can let you know if I can help you and you can decide if working with me will be right for you. Please email or phone me for further information.
Fee: £50 – £60 per session. I do have a few low cost spaces for those who are low waged, students or in receipt of state pension.
