Younes Hussein MBACP

My name is Younes Hussein ‘I am a counselor’ providing therapy to adults and young people at the Body & Mind Centre. I have been training as counsellor many years. I have gained Diploma in integrative Counselling and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am also in ongoing professional training to increase and expand my skills. My counselling approach is essentially person-centered, psychodynamic and transpersonal focusing on the uniqueness, potentiality and self-empowerment of the individual.
I also draw on my knowledge and understanding of the psychodynamic (transference), Gestalt, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Cognitive approaches to counselling. I have also gained certificate of suicide prevention. I am very passionate about helping and offer a warm and nurturing space for you to explore your presenting issues which you may be finding challenges and distressing. I work with genuine care, empathy and am non-judgmental.

Principally’ my approach is holistic and emphasises the importance for each individual of finding his or her own meaning, values and inspiration in life. I do not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, physical disability, gender or sexual orientation.
I am also a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and abide by their code of ethics.
I have worked with young people adolescent (especialized) aged 11 to 18 years of age and above. Having worked as a child and adolescent counsellor has contributed towards considerable positive changes in my own self-awareness, confidence and maturity, and increasingly I have found I have been able to make positive changes in the lives of young people there. It is rewarding to see my efforts being part of the team support for the ‘trauma healing process for these youngsters.
As well as being practitioner ‘I have also worked school counseling service for many years. I have learned to deal with trauma cases, risk/competence assessment and considerably complex ethical dilemmas while maintaining professional boundaries. I have also worked people who cannot speak English, including rough-sleepers, refugees and asylum seekers, which has broadened my experience of their problems and given me further insight into how they might best be assisted.

My work experience includes’ two year’ work to get knowledge and experience of working within the benefit welfare system with clients. I was a trained assessor, welfare advisor and translator and I also worked a Refugee Camp Support Worker, providing physical and emotional trauma support, medical and mental health assistance and case management.
