Hi, I’m Anna.
I’m a warm, open, and down-to-earth psychotherapist with an international background. Whatever you are going through, I offer you a supportive space and skilled perspective to invite meaningful change and greater vitality into your life.
Beyond labels and diagnoses, I am interested in who you are, what happened to you, how you are currently dealing with it, and what you truly need to move forward with more ease. My aim is for you to be seen and understood within the safety of a trusted therapeutic relationship. Growth happens from here.
I work with clients on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, bereavement, questions around identity, fertility, unwanted life changes, work, family, or relationship difficulties, addictions, recent or historic abuse, and trauma, among others. I appreciate how such difficulties can make us feel disconnected from ourselves.
I am not the silent therapist, we will dialogue. I believe that therapy is a safe space for you to bring to light what matters to you, where you find meaning, and make sense of what’s confusing, painful, shameful, or keeping you up at night. I will accompany you on the journey with patience, encouragement, and compassionate care; and sometimes offer a gentle challenge to open fresh perspectives, as you consider how you might want to be. The path ahead is yours, with my support.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified psychotherapist with a Masters degree in integrative-existential psychotherapy from Regent’s University London, and a BA from University of Toronto, graduating from both with distinction.
Having grown up in Canada, of European roots, and lived and worked 7 years in Japan, and now 14 years in the UK, I am interested in notions of identity and the contexts and relationships which shape who we are. This multicultural experience enriches my therapeutic practice, allowing me to connect deeply with clients from various backgrounds. Many of my clients have existential concerns related to their gender, race, age, ethnicity, or sexuality.
I have a clinical interest in inner child work, which is particularly helpful for those with traumatic experiences, when living can feel like an existential crisis; as well as experience supporting women with eating disorders, addictions, and developmental trauma. I have gained experience in both private and charity sectors with a wide range of clients. I have a special interest in working with bereavement.
I have a background in supporting international executives adapting to significant career changes and new cultural environments. As such, I recognise the demands corporate life may have on personal well-being.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP membership number 01016008), and the Society of Existential Analysis (SEA). I abide by the ethical code of BACP, including a commitment to regular supervision and continuing professional development. I am currently completing an Advanced Certificate in Existential Psychotherapy at Regent’s University London.
