Carlie Pottington

Carlie Pottington MBACP

Carlie is an experienced qualified counsellor offering one-to-one short, medium or long-term therapy to adults. She provides an accepting and empowering relationship, working collaboratively to explore what’s brought you to therapy, your hopes and your fears. Her therapeutic practice is defined by a relational way of being built on warmth, creativity, compassion, integrity and humour. She stays alongside you, to support you in setting the pace and tone of counselling. She believes therapy can be a space to focus on understanding your problems and barriers, to explore how you experience the world, enabling you to understand the internal conflicts and unhelpful patterns which might hold you back. Building a greater sense of awareness regarding your feelings can be painful to start with, but with gentle witnessing can often create a sense of freedom to enable new choices in your life.

Carlie specialises in working within the following areas;

  • Identity, belonging and lack of meaning
  • Gender, sexuality, relationship diversity
  • Trauma, PTSD and complex trauma
  • Bereavement, loss and grief
  • Anxiety and depression

Carlie has a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy from Brighton university choosing to work from a Gestalt perspective. She has previously provided counselling at Mind Out an LGBTQ+ Mental Health charity in Brighton and bereavement counselling at St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne.

Fees: £60 per session
