Individual Counselling

Dominic has spent the last decade being passionate about the importance of professional counselling providing lasting change and offering a service uniquely devoted to your needs. His approach is effective with anxiety or panic, depression, trauma, family and relationship issues, sexuality, and gender-related issues, or simply exploring.

Dominic is a professional, fully-qualified therapist, with extensive experience working for the NHS as well as in private practice. His aim is to create a safe place where you feel less alienated and more deeply understood, using approaches that aim to address change on all levels: emotionally, cognitively and somatically (with the body), to bring about lasting freedom from the painful legacy of childhood injuries or traumatic events.

The aftermath of historical events can all too often inhabit day-to-day living and frequently leads to ways of coping that narrow choice and affect limiting beliefs that create distress, anxiety and low moods. By collaboratively working together, more choice can be created and the integration of these painful past events lead to a happier, more fulfilling life. Broadly, his work is informed by a Person-Centred Approach, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which research has shown are effective with a range of moderate to severe mental health issues.

He offers a free 30-minute consultation to give space for you to consider whether or not he is the ‘right’ therapist for you.

Supervision

Dominic is also a qualified supervisor, teacher, trainer and group facilitator, working predominantly from a humanistic orientation and can also supervise work with children and young people. Presently, he works with individuals and groups, predominantly trainee or newly qualified counsellors.

Dominic has taught counselling at all levels, including diploma programmes and is very familiar with course requirements for both CPCAB and ABC awarding bodies. He is happy to provide additional advice or guidance, should you have any questions about criteria or course requirements.
