Peter is a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor who offers a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space for clients to explore their experiences and work through whatever it is that may be holding them back from living the life they want to be living. He sees his role as therapist as providing a supportive environment where clients can develop new awareness and insight, which can help them move forward. Peter believes that with the right support, people have an amazing capacity to find their own answers and to be the source of their own healing.
Peter practises relational Gestalt therapy, which means building a relationship of trust, equality and mutual respect between client and therapist. He takes a holistic approach, supporting you to learn from what you experience at the emotional, intellectual and embodied levels. In addition to exploring past experiences, a key focus is how you are experiencing life in the here and now.
Peter has experience in particular of working with anxiety, depression, trauma, shame, self-esteem, loneliness, relationship and LGBT issues. Peter’s way of working is informed by his yoga and meditation practice and his love of nature and travel.
In his earlier career, Peter lived and worked in many countries around the world. He also works as a coach and organisational consultant. Peter is a member of the UK Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). He holds a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and is currently working towards a Master of Science in Gestalt Psychotherapy. He also holds certificates in Psychodynamic Counselling and Organisation Dynamics and in Applied Behavioural Science. In addition to his private practice, Peter has worked with clients in the NHS IAPT service in Lambeth and Wandsworth and in an LGBT counselling service.
